Bali Zipline & Flying Fox in Ubud

Same thing, different name. Flying fox is what it is called across Indonesia and Australia, zipline is the American term, and you will see both used here and on other operators' sites. You are clipped into a harness and you run a steel cable from one side of the valley to the other.

Ours run over the Tegalalang rice terraces in Ubud, at Uma Ceking and Alas Harum. The reason to do it here rather than anywhere else is what is underneath you: carved terraces, palms and the valley floor, rather than a car park.

They get bundled together constantly, so this is worth sorting out. The zipline carries you across the valley on a cable. You are moving from A to B, and it is over in seconds.

The jungle swing keeps you in one place. You are strapped into a seat and swung out over the edge of the terrace and back, which is the shot everyone has seen from Bali. The swing is the photo, the zipline is the ride. Most of our packages include both because they are at the same venues.

No experience needed and nothing for you to operate. Staff fit the harness, check it, and send you off. All you do is sit and let go, which is the hard part if you do not like heights and the easy part if you do.

Height and weight limits apply at the venues, and there may be restrictions we need to check for your group. Message us before booking with ages and anything relevant and we will confirm rather than leave you to find out on the day.

Combo packages include whatever the other activities need as well. If something matters to you and you cannot see it listed, ask before you book.

You can do it on its own. The standalone rice terrace zipline is the short option, and there is a half day version that adds the jungle swing and time at the terraces without committing your whole day.

Everything else here pairs the zipline with something bigger, usually the Gorilla Cave ATV, rafting, kayaking or tubing. The zipline is a short activity, so most people slot it into a fuller day rather than travelling out for it alone.

A cart ride on a track through the jungle, and it appears in two of our combo packages alongside the swing and the zipline. It is the light-hearted end of what we run, and it goes down well with families and anyone who wants the fun without the mud of an ATV trail.

Closed shoes and clothes you can move in. Skirts and loose dresses do not work with a harness, and flip-flops have a habit of ending up in the valley. Tie long hair back.

Anything in your pockets will fall out, so leave it with someone or in the lockers. If your package continues into an ATV, river or beach activity, bring a change of clothes and a towel for that part.
